Fairtrade is a system of certification that aims to ensure a set of standards are met in the production and supply of a product. For farmers and workers, Fairtrade means workers’ rights, safer working conditions and fairer pay. For consumers it means high quality, ethically produced products.
Choosing Fairtrade means standing with farmers for fairness and equality, against some of the biggest challenges the world faces. It means farmers creating change, from investing in climate friendly farming techniques to developing women in leadership.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES AND DIVERSITY POLICY
We recognise everyone is an individual and we encourage a working environment in which diversity is recognised, valued and encouraged. We are committed to principles of fairness and mutual respect in which the concept of individual responsibility is accepted by all. Fundamentally we believe that during your employment you should treat and be treated by other employees and customers and those associated with the Company with respect and consideration. It is the responsibility of all employees to ensure they observe and adhere to this policy at all times. Employees will be held personally liable as well as, or instead of, the Company, for any act of unlawful discrimination. Acts of discrimination, harassment, bullying or victimisation against employees or customers or suppliers are disciplinary offences and will be dealt with under the Company’s disciplinary procedure. Conduct of this type will often be gross misconduct which can lead to dismissal without notice. Discrimination in the workplace is unacceptable and in most cases unlawful. We have therefore adopted this policy to ensure that all job applicants and employees along with those who use our services are treated fairly and without favour or prejudice. When recruiting new employees the selection methods we adopt are solely related to the basis of an applicant’s capability to perform the role. We do not seek irrelevant qualifications and welcome applications from all.
No job applicant or employee will receive less favourable treatment because of their:

-
Age
-
Religion or Belief
-
Disability
-
Pregnancy or Maternity
-
Gender Reassignment
-
Sex
-
Marriage or Civil Partner status
-
Sexual Orientation
-
Race (including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin)
The above are referred to as ‘Protected Characteristics’.
All employees have a duty to act in accordance with this policy and treat colleagues with dignity at all times, and not to discriminate against or harass other employees, regardless of their status. In employment terms, our Policies will ensure that all employees are treated equally in respect of recruitment, training, performance, promotion and access to benefits and when dealing with grievance or disciplinary issues. We are also committed to ensuring that these principles are applied in the way that all employees work together and deal with and are dealt with by customers. Each and every employee of the Company regardless of role or position is therefore key to the success of this policy. We expect every employee to make a positive contribution towards creating an environment of equal opportunity and fairness through the organisation by observing this policy. In particular employees have an individual responsibility to adopt the following:

-
Refrain from pursuing actions or taking decisions which are contrary to the spirit of this policy
-
Not to harass, abuse or intimidate anyone on account of their Protected Characteristics
-
Do not place pressure on other employees to act in a discriminatory manner
-
Resist pressure to discriminate and report any and all such behaviour
